Well, the summer is winding down a bit. My gig schedule is getting a bit more spread out. The last several months have been wonderfully hectic, or is that hectically wonderful?
Last Friday night at the John Anson Ford Theater was spectacular. What an incredible venue. The stage, sound, and lights were second to none, and the beautiful but muggy Friday under the stars was the perfect atmosphere for the rousing sounds of Ken O'Malley and The Twilight Lords, and the haunting arrangements of Solas. All in all a fabulous show!
Border Radio had a couple of very nice gigs, one as the featured artist at the Northern San Diego Bluegrass AssociationÕs monthly get-together. We played a completely acoustic set, and received a standing ovation from the very appreciative crowd.
Border Radio has a couple of interesting gigs coming right up. For all of you JPLers, we will be appearing at the Bean Town Coffee house in Sierra Madre on September 18th, and at ColeÕs in Downtown L.A. on 6th St. on September 22nd opening for I See Hawks in L.A.
Border Radio is a
truly special band, combining great songwriting, sweet vocals, old-time cowboy
music and excellent musicianship into an ensemble that elevates the spirit. We
have a lot of local gigs coming up in the near future, so if you like cowboy
country and country swing styles, you owe it to yourself to get to one of them.
You will come back for more.
Hot Lips & Fingertips will be appearing again later this month at the Saint Monica's Church Octoberfair in Santa Monica. This will be our third appearance at the Octoberfair, and it is a fun show with lots of bands, great outdoor stage, a chili cook-off, Margaritas, beer and wine, good food, fun and games. This church knows how to PARTY! The Octoberfair is all weekend, September 24th through 27th, and HL&FT will be playing on the evening of Friday, September 24th.
HL&FT will also be playing again next month at one of our favorite local music venues, Boulevard Music, Make sure to call and make reservations. It is a very intimate show -- the place has only 100 seats, and tickets sell out fast.
MacLear will be having
a set of rare performances centered around the The
Ventura Seaside Highland Games on the weekend of October 8th, 9th,
and 10th. We will be performing throughout the day at the games, and
in the evenings at a local pub.
Well, thatÕs about it for now. I hope to see you at one or two of these performances in the near future. If you do come to a gig, please come up and talk to me before or after the show. I would love to see you.
P.S. IÕm working on the pictureÉ I just thought that I shouldnÕt be sending around a picture with long hair when I cut it about six months ago. You know, truth in advertising and allÉ Besides, Tali is a looker.
