Hello again!I whipped off yesterdayÕs list in a hurry, and left out some important stuff! I also had a few inaccuracies that I hadnÕt planned on. So, here is yesterdayÕs FiddleMan again, with the corrections. Please accept my apologies.
By the way, Skirball went very well yesterday. The acoustics were fantastic, and the audience was very receptive. They treated us very nicely, too!
Also, I forgot to mention a very special appearance with Ed Berghoff. Ed is an extraordinary songwriter who has penned
tunes for
Once again, IÕd
like to extend a heart-felt welcome to the newest members of my humble list.
ItÕs great to see new people at least thinking about coming to some of my gigs.
I managed to
make it through the St. PatrickÕs day season in one
piece (mostly), and we had some really nice shows between then and now. The
Cowboy Poetry Festival in Santa Clarita was even better this year. As is their
custom, they treated us with great respect, and all of the entertainers there
put on incredible shows. I recommend this event highly Ð so next year when it
comes around, make sure you donÕt miss it.
There are some
new and interesting gigs added. Some of them I donÕt have full details on, but
I put them in anyway as place holders. IÕll send out another FiddleMan newsletter before the dates arrive to clarify any
ambiguities. And as always, donÕt hesitate to drop me a line if you have
questions, of if I flake out and forget to fill in a time or a date.
DonÕt forget: Border

Shows will be on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from June 16th
through July 3rd at the Palm Springs Pavilion Theater. This show is more than a tribute to the
legendary country singer. It is based on a true story about Cline's friendship
with a fan from
And finally,
with all of the unrest and violence currently being perpetrated around the
world in the name of what is right and wrong, I thought it would be nice to
consider once again the simplicity of peace, compassion, and kindness to each
other. There are so many Òcrimes against humanityÓ being committed at all
levels every day. There is child abduction, sexual abuse and murder, corporate
greed, suicide bombers, and terrorists. The list is painfully and alarmingly
long, and it has become the focus of the entire world. With all of our energy
trained on these hideous Òtruths,Ó it is not that surprising that they continue
to escalate. I suggest a simple change of focus: to consider the goodness of
our friends and colleagues, the true nature of the good people that we know,
both personally and by reputation. To ponder the nature of
peopleÕs differences and similarities. To try and find the commonalities
within each other, and allow ourselves to disagree, even in areas of faith and
religion. To observe and try to understand the symbols used by others, and
relate them to our own, celebrating that we all want the same basic things, and
ask different divine sources to satisfy our desires. To
question the wisdom of requiring others to conform to our way of life and our
brand of reverence. I personally do not think it is natureÕs intent to
create the very hell we are trying to avoid right here on our little planet as
a result of making sure that we donÕt go to hell when we die. So letÕs stop
now.
See
you at the gig.
