There has been some extraordinary music played since my last FiddleMan issue on August 9th.

The Hot Lips & Fingertips concert at the Culver City Hall was packed! People stayed for the second show, and we got a standing ovation. That felt really good. Thank you!

The KulakÕs show on the 14th was really nice also. Half of HL&FT plus half of Monty ByromÕs Big House band played music in the round on Saturday night. I wonderful time was had by all.

On a side note, I was taken to task regarding editorializing about a potential Òurban mythsÓ under false pretenses. So I just want to apologize to anyone who might have been offended by my mailing that included writing allegedly credited to George Carlin in a message that still bore the Subject line of a ÒFiddleMan Gig ListÓ. (I forgot to change the subjectÉoops). Anyway, I do not know for sure if George Carlin wrote those words, but they inspired me nonetheless, and I felt I wanted to share them with my friends. I will think twice before using this list for other than shameless self-promotion in the future.

Back to business: In the next few weeks, I will be playing with two of my favorite bands, ÒBorder RadioÓ and ÒAcadianaÓ. Border Radio is a remarkable old-time and original cowboy swing band (fiddle, dobro, bass, guitar and featuring one of the sweetest voices this side of the Pecos Ð Kelly McCune). Acadiana is a Cajun-Zydeco and blues band featuring the incomparable guitar and vocal work of Teresa Russell.  Also, on September 10th, donÕt forget a rare and wonderful night of Celtic music with Solas. This show is kicked-off by Ken O'Malley and his The Twilight Lords at the John Anson Ford Theater.

Remember, between mailings of the FiddleMan Mailing List, you can always check the very latest schedule updates at MarkÕs Gig List.

See you at the gig!

All the best,
